Book editor Jennifer Adams had the very inspired idea to create this line of "BabyLit Board Books" featuring famous literary characters--from Mr. Darcy to Romeo & Juliet. Of course, the storylines of these classic tomes were bound to bore those whose primary activities include cooing and chewing, so they have been adapted into simple color and number primers (for example, count the country homes). The illustrations are winning baby fare and the concept, obviously, is sure to please even the most highbrow of new parents. Consider these for your next baby gift--they cost $9.99 each at Amazon.com but will qualify for a 4-for-3 promotion, so the total cost for the set would be under $30.
