From the Archives: Ask MyMomShops: Hooded Towels

Editor's Note: This post first ran in 2009. Three years later, my daughter (now age 8 1/2) *still* uses this towel every night after she showers. It literally has lasted since she was an infant, and I can't recommend it highly enough! Visit Tickle Toes to buy one; I read on Twitter that they include free cellophane and ribbon gift wrap with each towel order!

Dear MyMomShops: Just wondering if you have ever found a great hooded towel for toddlers. I know Pottery Barn Kids has them but I am looking for something soft & cozy, not just cute. Thanks. You always find the best stuff! Susan, mom to Jake (3 years)

Dear Susan,

Thanks for writing. Yes, I have the perfect recommendation for you! When my daughter R. was born, her great-uncle gave her the most beautiful, soft, thick hooded bath towel. She used it day after day...and she still does (and she's nearly 6 years old now!) It is made by a small company in New Jersey called Tickle Toes. It is the only towel I have ever found that not only is supremely luscious, but also is sized generously enough (30 x 52 inches) to last through the toddler and preschool years (and even beyond). They are made of high-quality cotton here in the U.S.A. I love to give them as gifts, especially since there is a great variety of both girls', boys', and unisex patterns. The basic towel costs $40; you can add a monogram for an additional $5 and a coordinating washcloth for just $1. Check them all out at Tickle Toes.

Cheers and Happy Bathtime!
