I copied these quiz questions a while go from a blogger friend, Tertia, and have been interviewing my kids every year since. It's a cute activity to do and it's fun to read back on past years' replies. Here are my kids' answers this year (R. is 8, S. is 5). Please note that I am as mystified (and amused) by some of these answers as you are.
1. What was your favorite thing this year?
R: “I don’t know.”
S: “My favorite thing was playing with you.”
2. What is something your Mom always says to you?
R: “Behave” and “I love you”
S: “[She says] good things to me. Of course that.”
3. What makes Mom happy?
R: “Sometimes French Toast with her secret ingredient. And working” (Note: my “secret” ingredient is cinnamon. Maybe I should try something stronger!)
S: “Milk!”
4. What makes Mom sad?
R: “When we all get crazy and I keep running around the kitchen island. Although I do love doing that.”
S: “Hitting. Yes, Hitting, That’s the One.”
5. What did Mom do as a child?
R: “Hmmm. I don’t know”
S: “Played with Aunt Hockie (Erika)”
6. How old is Mom?
R: “39 but in real life actually 40. According to Chinese people.”
S: “Don’t know!” (Pauses). “She’s 5.”
7. What is your Mom's favorite thing on TV?
R: “Mad Men, Tori Spelling, Kathy Griffin’s things. And sometimes even 19 Kids and Counting.”
S: “The weather.”
8. What does your Mom do when you are not around?
R: “Goes out with her friends.”
S: “You do work!”
9. If your Mom becomes famous what will it be for?
R: “I don’t think you would ever become famous for anything.”
S: “Even if you look famous, you’ll be famous just for even for dressing up famous.”
10. What is Mom good at?
R: “I have to say….nothing. But laundry.”
S: “The Halloween thing.”
11. What's Mom's favorite food?
R: “A club sandwich from Gracie Mews"
S: “I don’t know. I’m done with all these questions”
12. What makes you proud of your Mom?
R: “Getting me a fake dog.”
S: “Nothing.”
13. What do you and your Mom do together?
R: “Watch TV or play the Wii”
S: “Play”
14. How are you and your Mom the same?
R: “Well, most people think we look alike but I don’t think we do."
S: “Because we’re young”
15. How are you and your Mom different?
R: “Practically in every different way. You don’t even like playing soccer one bit!”
S: “Because our skin.” (I'm fair, and he is super fair).
16. How do you know your Mom loves you?
R: “You give me hugs all the time.”
S: “Because she loves the things that I do to her like hugging her and like kissing her.”
17. Where is your Mom's favorite place to go?
R: “Restaurants, maybe?”
S: “Mommy’s favorite place is to go to the Rocking Horse Ranch!”
18. What is Mom's job?
R: “Blogger.”
S: “Mommy’s job is to take care of everything in the city.” Pauses, then adds: “Drinking milk and being a mom."
