Introducing the Jessica Simpson Girls' Collection

I attended last week's launch at Dylan's Candy Bar of the Jessica Simpson Girls' Collection, part of the "Jessica Simpson Collection" (JSC). JSC is partnering with Jessica Seinfeld'sBaby Buggy, a NYC nonprofit that provides essential baby/kids' gear, clothing, accessories, and toys to families in need.

The event was very cool, and not just because I talked to Jessica Simpson. First, about the collection. Jessica Simpson Girls' Collection is geared towards 'tweens and teens and includes fashion-forward but comfortable apparel, footwear, and accessories. Girls who attended the event (amazingly, my own 8-year-old declined to attend, saying she had too much homework) got to decorate their own pair of jeans and shoes, too. Here is my pal Sabrina, 6-year-old daughter of my friend and blogger extraodinaire Love That Max, honing her sartorial skills:

For its partnership with Baby Buggy, the Jessica Simpson Girls' Collection is hosting a special Design-Your-Own-T-Shirt Initiative where girls can submit their designs to be considered by Jessica Simpson, Ashlee Simpson, and Baby Buggy Founder Jessica Seinfeld. The winning design--chosen by these 3 judges-will be sold in next year's back-to-school collection. Submissions are being accepted online now through January 31, 2012. Here is Jessica with some girls modeling the current looks in the collection (photo courtesy of MTV.com):

And now some more fun details about the event. First, there were cotton candy flavored martinis for the moms (the younger set got shot glasses of milk to accompany their chocolate chip cookies--very cute).

Of course, we also got to meet Jessica and Ashlee Simpson. Here they are when they arrived at Dylan's. Ashlee is super skinny and looked like she could use some candy. Jessica looks great and healthy and I would guess she is maybe 6 months pregnant?

Jessica posed with young fans. The cute guy next to her is her fiance Eric Johnson. He seemed very sweet and kind of reminded me of Tori Spelling's husband Dean McDermott.

And here is Jessica talking to Dylan's Candy Bar founder and owner Dylan Lauren, Ralph Lauren's daughter:

I spoke to Jessica for about a minute and asked her how she is feeling. She said, "Great, I've felt awesome the whole pregnancy!" and I replied something stupid like "Great! You can have 10 more kids now!" Not sure why I said that. I was embarrassed (and too embarrassed to take a photo with her).
