The Judy Show

Occasionally I'm invited to a media preview of an off-Broadway (or off-off-off-Broadwa!) show. Recently I got to attend The Judy Show: My Life as a Sitcom, an off-Broadway one-woman show by the eponymous Judy Gold, a well-known NYC comedian and star of stage and TV. She describes herself as a six-foot-tall divorced Jewish lesbian mom of two who happens to be obssessed with the classic sitcoms of the 70s, 80s and 90s. In this very funny, one-act 90 minute show, Judy tells her life story through the lends of sitcoms like The Brady Bunch, One Day at a Time, and My Three Sons. If you grew up with those shows, you will enjoy this performance--even if your life story is different from Judy's own. She is smart, sarcastic, self-deprecating, and very genuine. If you're looking for some light theater that will make you laugh, this is smart bet. It's been extended through November 27th at the DR2 Theater near Union Square; tickets are available at Judy's website.

I received a complimentary ticket to The Judy Show, but was not compensated for this post, and all opinions expressed here are entirely my own.
