Rockography Cafe

I was invited to enjoy lunch recently at Rockography Cafe, a new Greenwich Village restaurant that's sort of a smaller, less touristy-version of Hard Rock Cafe. Everything in this rock-n-roll themed restaurant is authentic--from the vintage LPs on which the menus are printed to the cool art gallery in the back where you can buy framed original photographs of John Lennon, Rod Stewart, and other rock legends for as low as $150.

The menus are printed on the back of vintage LP's. Pretty awesome.

And, of course, there is music playing 24/7...and as a Gen X mom, I loved that most of it was rock music from the 1970s and 1980s (no Dan Zanes and kiddie rock here).

Besides the theme, the menu here is the big draw. It's American comfort food at its most tasty (starting with fresh popcorn brought to your table instead of a bread basket).

This is called the "F.U. Burger." It includes a tower of toppings ranging from fried tomato to pickles to Velveeta.

Bacon Salad. Yes.

By far THE best menu item I sampled was the fried PB&J sandwich. Yes, it sounds disgusting. But just you wait...it is pure heaven.

I didn't get to stay for dessert (which is probably a good thing because I was totally stuffed already) but I heard it was awesome, too. I'd love to come back here sometime with my kids. Any place that starts off a meal with popcorn--even if it has my music rather than theirs--is sure to be a hit.

Rockography is located at 504 6th Avenue in NYC's Greenwich Village. Phone 646-360-4143.
