This queen of hearts dress from Chasing Fireflies actually works beyond Valentine's Day. It's got comfortable styling and is made of machine washable cotton-elastane. It's still available in sizes 3/4 and 9/10 for $68 at Chasing Fireflies.

The Best Stuff

Some women get excited with it's Awards Season (you know, the Golden Globes and such). I get excited when it's trade show season (though I must admit I do love to watch the Fashion Police wrap-ups with Joan Rivers). My favorite trade show is now just four months away- the National Stationery Show. But I'm kicking off the season with a visit to the New York International Gift Fair which starts this weekend at the Javits Center. This mammoth show features the latest in everything from home decor to jewelry to crafts to toys. I couldn't possibly try to see even a fraction of everything I'd like to see, but I will be keeping a special eye out for the latest mom and kid-friendly finds from vendors like Zid Zid, Wall Candy Arts, NYC Subway Line, Figs & Ginger, Baby Legs, and 3 Sprouts. Check back next week for my in-depth reports and photographs, and visit the NYIGF website for more information.

Double Decker

Oh my gosh, how cute is this Double Decker Red Bus by Bajo? I'd never heard of this brand before I saw it at Oompa.com. Bajo toys are hand-finished in a small village near the Carpathian mountains, and are made of locally grown wood and finished with non-toxic lacquers. Lovely- but pricey. This small vehicle (5 x 2 x 3 inches) will set you back $18.99. Leave this one for the grandparents to buy!

Things That Go

This Things That Go Personalized Stroller Blanket from Etsy has a steep price tag ($50), but looks well made and BIG, too. It measures 30 x 37 inches and would last well into the toddler/preschool years. It is made of double-sided "minky" plush fleece which is super warm and also washes well (no pilling). Choose a designer fabric for one side, and a solid color for the other side- you can also choose the color for personalization. $50 at the Etsy.com storefront of Elise Hooper Designs.

MyMomShops Giveaway: Photofiddle
If you've read MyMomShops for awhile, you know that one of my all-time favorite pieces of wall art are the amazing canvases by Photofiddle. I've proudly displayed this example of their work in our apartment and we get so many compliments from friends & family. It just captures my kids so perfectly at such a special time for us.
Launched in 2004, Photofiddle allows users to upload their photos and instantly preview how their photo can be transformed into artwork in tons of different styles. Since you're using your own photos, this makes an incredible keepsake gift for parents or grandparents. If you are looking for a super valentine gift, this might be it. It is very high quality (I can personally attest to this- I was surprised how mine turns out, and people ask me all the time if it was hand-painted). Even Oprah chose it as one of her 2009 holiday gift picks. And Oprah can't be wrong (right?). Prices are competitive and start at about $56.95 for an 8 x 12" canvas- though you can get artwork as large as 6 feet by 20 feet.
Photofiddle recently added a bunch of new styles (there are now over 50 to choose from). These are some of my favorites types:
Color Edge
Pop Art
Impasto
Want to see more examples? Browse some of Photofiddle's most popular designs.
Enjoy a 15% discount on orders at PhotoFiddle.com with code "MOMSHOPS15".

Got the Blues

I usually have more success with boys' clothes than girls' clothes at Children's Place; I find the girls' styles to be hit or miss. But they hit just the right note with several items in the new Stylish 'N Sunny line. I just scooped these up for R. and she twirled around in a "fashion show" to show them off. That's the seal of approval. At top: floral dress ($24.50, sizes 4-14), embroidered peasant top ($14.50) with denim leggings ($10.50, limited quantities) Lots of cute coordinating hair accessories, too.
p.s. Like the blue-and-white look for girls' spring clothing? Also check out Gymboree's new Santorini Sweetie line (love this swimsuit).

MyMomShops Sponsor: My Princess Closet
With apologies to moms who only have sons, I am very happy to show you some of the latest girliness now available at our long-time sponsor My Princess Closet. The owner of this shop- a mom of 3 boys who then had a little girl- has a special knack for finding just the right items that you'll want to buy for your little princess. And with Valentine's Day coming up, now is the time to snag some of these:
Valentine Socks by Trumpette. Just try resisting these for your daughter's 1st Valentine's Day. One pair fits sizes 0-12 months (though in my experience, if your baby has chubby feet, they might not last till 1 year).
PJ Cupcakes by The Baby Bunch. A pink (of course) pajama top and coordinating striped bottoms, irresistibly packaged in a faux bakery box. Size 12-18months only, $20.
"Tickled Pink" Baby Legs. A new pattern for this popular brand, these baby legwarmers keep chubby knees warm and protected from hard floors while crawling. $12.
Fancy Prancy Birthday Princess Purse (on sale for $11, regularly $27, January purse shown). An adorable purse featuring the month's birthstone as decorative "gems", and including a 5" tricot princess with key chain attachment.
Ready to spoil someone? Visit My Princess Closet. An added bonus- shipping is $5 every day, on any order.
Please note this is a sponsored post.

Bargain Alert: Skivvydoodles Pajamas

My son loves Skivvydoodles Pajamas because they are cut generously (many other brands are too tight on his arms and tummy). These Train Print PJ's by Skivvydoodles are reduced 71% at Babies to Kids. They're available in sizes 6 and 12 only, reduced from $34.99 to just $9.99.

Taming the Dress-Up Clothes Mess
Note: This is a re-post from last summer. I just bought this very trunk for my own daughter's dress-up clothes (and some errant doll clothing) and it is working wonderfully! It looks soooo much neater in her room than the scrappy pop-up laundry hamper we'd been using, and it fits more dress-up clothing than I imagined it would.
Dear MyMomShops,
I love your blog and am so glad I found it! You have given me some amazing gift ideas (and quite a few items I want for myself!)
Growing up, I remember having a "trunk" to keep all my doll clothes in. It had a couple of latches and a handle to carry it around. Now I am looking for something similar for my daughter. Any suggestions?
Thanks, from Kristin
Dear Kristin,
It is funny that you ask this question since I am looking for the same thing for my 6-year-old daughter. I have been keeping her dress up clothes and doll clothes in mesh pop-up hampers and it is not so pretty.
There are not many doll clothes trunks out there (not like the ones we had as little girls, anyway), but I did find this hamper/toy storage chest at Amazon.com ($64.95) which would work nicely for dress-up or doll clothes. It arrives all assembled (bonus!) and as your little girl gets older, it will transition nicely to store other items, or even function as a hamper. And, of course, it has a nice "girly" feel that your daughter will probably love.
It's available in several other designs, too. Check them out and let us know what you think!
Best,

Baby Print Art

As a mom who loves keepsake gifts, I jumped at the chance to try out the custom kids' handprint and footprint art by Baby Art. When my kids were babies, I made some footprint art at a make-your-own pottery place, but I haven't done it since then. I wasn't sure how well this kind of keepsake art would work for a 6-year-old and a 3-year-old (who already wears a size 12.5 shoe!) but it turned out great. I got two of the signature Wee Print Portraits ($54.99), one for each of my kids. Here's how it works: After choosing your canvas, size, and colors (including optional features like the child's name, birthdate, and even a photo- as seen in the third image above), Baby Print Art sends you a kit with paper and ink to make sample hand and footprints (you can try a few times and they'll use the best print). They even include hand wipes to clean the kids off afterwards. Send the kit back in a pre-paid envelope, and a few weeks later you'll get your finished, professional quality canvas. Check out the customer gallery to get some inspiration, and to see how the pieces look when hanging on the wall in your home. We plan to hang ours in the kids' play area. Even though my munchkins' footprints aren't teeny-tiny anymore, they are still pretty darn cute. And I know years from now, when my kids are towering over me, this art will be even more special. Visit Baby Print Art to design your own canvas (makes a nice Valentine's Gift for a new mom or dad, by the way).

Easter's Here Early
Any other Cadbury Creme Egg addicts out there (besides my friend Rosanne, who I know is reading this?). Ever since I was a little girl and the "When Easter's Gone, They're Gone" commercials aired on T.V., I have been a fan of the classic springtime confection- a thick milk chocolate shell filled with gooey white and yellow sugar fondant. And, just as with Oreos, everyone seems to have a different way of eating theirs (how do you eat yours?) And, despite the old warning, it turns out you can buy them after Easter, and now, apparently, before then too. I spotted them mid-January at our neighborhood Duane Reade store. Mmmm. Can't find them locally? You can buy a 4-pack at Blair Candy for $3.19.

All Occasion Fancy Frames

Monogrammed frames make an all-purpose gift- they work well for engagements, weddings, housewarmings, and new babies. I particularly like these Beaded Silver Plated Frames from Pottery Barn which are elegant yet affordable. They're available in 4 x 6, 5 x 7, 8 x 10, or a set of three mini frames (love the mini-set as a baby shower gift). The collection is priced from $29 to $54. Get On Board

I think that Mini Boden makes some of the best, most durable summer clothes for boys. My son wore these board shorts in the blue striped pattern last year and they held up really well after lots of washings. This year, the orange star pattern is my favorite. One of Mini Boden's most popular items for boys, the shorts cost $34 but you can get 10% off plus free shipping right now with code "WPAF". Act fast, because these tend to sell out quickly.

Blogiversary Giveaway #5: $100 Gift Certificate to Juvie
Remember: We posted 1 giveaway per day this week and you can enter any or all of them until this Sunday at 11:59pm EST. Just keep scrolling down to enter this week's giveaways from Tea Collection, Garnet Hill, little maven by Tori Spelling, and Feterie!
My kids are getting bigger- I'm about to start shopping in girls' 7-14 sections for my six-year-old daughter, and my very tall three-year-old son has now outgrown his 4T clothes. While it's a little sad moving to the "big kids" sections of stores to shop for them, it's fun seeing what else is out there now that we're long past the age of onesies and overalls.
One online shop I always enjoy browsing is Juvie, which is donating a $100 gift certificate for the final giveaway this Blogiversary Week. Juvie is a popular boutique that sells clothing, gifts and accessories for 'tween boys and girls, and they have just started carrying boys' and girl's clothing starting at size 2T as well. So if you have a preschooler and a school-age child, you can now shop for both of them at Juvie. There are some top designers here including Splendid, Wes & Willy, Kingsley, Appaman, Pinc, and Mini Rotation. The clothing is modern but age-appropriate (something that is very tough to find for 'tween girls), and reasonably priced.
These are some of my favorite items right now at Juvie:
Ragdoll and Rockets Frency Terry Raglan Jersey ($48.75, sizes 7-14). A pretty version of a tomboy style, made of 100% French terry cotton with decorative cross stitching.
Cutstom Digital Portraits by Emily Wagner (Starting at $160 for 8 x 10"). Never seen these before- you submit a favorite digital photo and pick your choice of 10 background paper designs (by designers like Snow & Graham and Elum) for the artist to create a spectacular collage.
Wes and Willy Super Recycle T Shirt ($20.75, sizes 2-7). I swear by Wes & Willy cotton tees for my son- this one has a great message, too.
Momiji Poppet Message Doll ($17.75 each). I'm starting to see these popping up everywhere- they're 3" tall Japanese collectible message dolls, each containing a tiny card you can write a message on for a friend. Each doll is unique and available for a limited time only. Packaged in a noodle box- adorable!
Win it! One reader will win a $100 gift certificate to Juvie. Here are the contest rules:
1) Visit Juvie and tell us what your favorite item is. Leave your comment on THIS post (click on "comments" below).
2) Post your comment by 11:59pm EST, Sunday, January 24th. One entry per person, please. US addresses only.
3) One winner will be chosen at random and announced along with all of the other giveaway winners on Monday morning, January 25th.
4) NOTE: If you wish to be contacted by e-mail if you win, please include your e-mail address in your comment. Otherwise you must check back on Monday, January 25th to see if you won. Unclaimed prizes are forfeited after 72 hours.
GOOD LUCK!!
Girly Geox

My daughter has been fixated on Geox shoes for awhile. Maybe it is 1st grade peer pressure- starting last year, every girl in her class ended up with the exact same pair of pink flashing sneaks. Now, it's on to lilac. Since she outgrew her last pair, she just picked out these Jocker Light Heart Sneakers by Geox which we had to buy in size 1 (SIZE 1! Wasn't I just buying her infant Robeez?) Anyway, the glitter accents and lights in the heel are exactly what she was looking for. If you have a first grade daughter, you, too, may be checking out the Geox selection at Zappos.com, where this pair costs $59.95 with free shipping both ways.

Blogiversary Giveaway #4: Calling Cards by Feterie
Remember: We are holding 1 giveaway per day this week, Monday through Friday. Enter as many as you'd like. Please scroll down to see the previous giveaways!
When I started attending the National Stationery Show a few years ago, I met so many talented designers and business owners (often, they were both). One such person is Cathe Huynh-Sison, an award-winning designer from San Francisco who launched Feterie, a shop featuring "modern stationery and bespoken lovelies." Cathe runs this successful business herself, while also being a mom to two young children (the youngest, a baby girl, just arrived 1 week ago!) So I am especially grateful that she agreed to participate in our giveaway week.
Today's giveaway is 100 cards (your choice of design) from Cathe's new line of Calling Cards and Mommy Cards. While I know a handful of people who scoff at the idea of "mommy cards", these are the same people who are cursing as they dig for a pen and scrap of paper in their diaper bag. And, several of these designs can be easily adapted as personal calling cards, so you can feel free to leave off the kids' names. Cards measure a standard 3.5" x 2" and are printed on 100lb matte cardstock. Cathe will personalize the winner's cards with whatever information they choose; each design is also availble in several color combos.
These are my favorites:
Alphabetique Calling Cards. Use your child's initial, your family initial, or your own.
Onesie Calling Card. This one is perfect for a new mom.
Flutterby Calling Card. Want one less "mom"-like? I love this one.
The cards start at $57 for 25 cards; the winner of this giveaway will receive 100 cards valued at $70. See all of the available designs here.
Win it! One reader will win 100 calling cards/mommy card (design of choice) from Feterie. Here are the contest rules:
1) Visit Feterie and tell us what your favorite item is. It does not need to be the prize item.

Blogiversary Giveaway #3: $100 gift certificate to little maven by Tori Spelling
Remember: We are holding 1 giveaway per day this week, Monday through Friday. Enter as many as you'd like. Please scroll down to see the previous giveaways!
Regular readers of this blog know how much I love Tori Spelling, her home decor style, and her new line of clothing for kids, little maven by Tori Spelling. So a $100 gift certificate is perfect for this celebratory "blogiversary" giveaway week (when I started this blog, Tori was just about to give birth to her first child...and in the 3 years since then she has had another child, published 2 books, and launched a clothing line...not too shabby!)
My son outgrew the first little maven by Tori Spelling pieces in his wardrobe last Fall, so I am especially excited that the new spring collections have been extended to bigger sizes for both boys (up to size 7) and girls (up to size 6x). Now I can imagine these clothes on both of my "big kids."
little maven by Tori Spelling has a Hollywood chic- meets-casual playwear vibe. Nearly everything is made of soft, machine washable cotton. The color palettes are bright and you can mix-and-match pieces within a collection. I've liked every collection so far. Here are some photos of my favorites from the new spring lines for boys and girls:
"Showtime" line for girls, sizes 6-9mos through 6x, $26-$78.
"Photo Op" line for boys, sizes 6-9mos through 7, $28 to $60.
Palm Springs Line for Girls, sizes 6-9mos through 6x, $26 to $64.
Palm Springs Resort for Boys, sizes 6-9mos through 7, $28-$74
Plus, the collections from last Fall and Winter are on sale (up to 50% off) and with a $100 gift certificate, you could scoop up several items that just may make your own kid look paparazzi-worthy. Visit little maven by Tori Spelling.

Smock Paper: 100% of Profits to Haiti Relief
I got an e-mail yesterday from one of my all-time favorite letterpress shops, Smock Paper. Today (January 20th) and tomorrow (January 21th), they are donating 100% (yes, 100%) of their profits to Doctors without Borders to support their relief efforts in Haiti. Ever since I first discovered Smock Paper at the National Stationery Show a few years ago, I have been blown away by the texture of their beautiful letterpress designs, and the quality of their thick, sustainably printed bamboo cardstock (and, trust me, I see- and feel- a lot of this stuff). At left is their Little One greeting card with patterned envelope) ($4). Smock Paper was already on my list of favorites, and now I admire them even more. Buy something there today or tomorrow to support Haiti; visit Smock Paper.

Blogiversary Giveaway #2: Lilly Pulitzer Sheet Set from Garnet Hill
Remember: We are holding 1 giveaway per day this week, Monday through Friday. Enter as many as you'd like. Please scroll down to see the previous giveaways!
Yesterday's giveaway was our very first one from Tea Collection, and today's is another first for MyMomShops- our first giveaway from Garnet Hill, one of my all-time favorite catalogs. Seriously, I dog-ear just about every other page each time it arrives in the mail. I love their selection of clothing and accessories for women and kids, and their home decor.
Garnet Hill has just introduced Lilly Pulitzer Home for Garnet Hill, a brand new line of exclusive designs by the famous designer of all things preppy chic. Lilly's products for Garnet Hill are, of course, gorgeous (I want this!), and the patterns are fresh and colorful for spring.

Today's giveaway is a percale twin sheet set from the brand new Lilly Pulitzer Lilly of the Valley bedding collection (it is the pink and white sheet set shown above; the quilt is not included). This set costs $150 and would work equally well in a little girl's room or a guest bedroom. Click on Garnet Hill's link and then zoom in to see the exquisite detail work on these sheets. The pink and white floral pattern is accented with a punch of green provided by delicate square ruffles on the pillowcases and flat sheet. The set is printed on 200 thread count Eygptian cotton, and is made in Portugal. It includes two standard size pillowcases, flat sheet, and fitted elasticized sheet. Each component costs $50, for a total value of $150.
Win it! One reader will win Garnet Hill's Lilly Pulitzer Lilly of the Valley Twin Sheet Set ($150 value) consisting of flat and fitted sheets plus two standard pillowcases. Here are the contest rules:

Dr. King
With apologies for posting this late in the day, I wanted to share a link to an amazing gallery of Martin Luther King Jr. family photos, most of which I'd never seen before. The image here, which shows Dr. King, his wife, and three of their children posing in their Atlanta, GA home on March 17, 1963, is my favorite. It reminds you of the "human" side of our country's history-makers. Everyone pauses to fix their little boy's tie, right?

I am so excited about today's giveaway- it's our very first from Tea Collection, a San Francisco-based kids' clothing company which launched in 2002. I've adored their high-quality, internationally-inspired clothing ever since I bought my then-toddler daughter one of their signature tunics and leggings in 2004. Tea Collection has become one of the most popular brands of children's apparel, available in more than 500 stores nationwide and abroad.
Tea Collection's latest line, the City Seoul collection, is inspired by the vibrant colors and prints of Korea. And good news for Tea afficionados- this collection is available up to size 8 for both boys and girls. Here are some of my favorite picks (most are available in the entire size range, starting at 6-12 months).
Camelia Dot Wrap Dress ($27) with striped leggings ($23):
Tae Kwon Do Tee ($19) with City Stripe Hoodie ($29) and solid shorts ($18):
