I loved reading the comments on my recent "Must These Really Be Pink?" post (and a hearty congrats to my dear friend/neighbor/blog reader Aimee, who welcomed Baby Lila yesterday- S's birthday, too!) Yesterday, the kids and I were at a Toys' R Us event and I spotted this all-toys-pink display from the escalator, including the Fisher Price pink school bus I had mentioned. All pink, all in one place. I rest my case.
I feel you on the pink everywhere thing. That said, before our S. was born, we grappled with what color to paint her room. The border, as you know, is periwinkle sprinkled with green, yellow and pink. I thought yellow would be nice. But M. said to me, "when she's little might be your only time to pink it up. When she's 5 or 8, she might hate pink." We painted her room pink. All of her toys are not pink. But, in a wierd way, I can understand people's desire to pink it up while they have the chance. You never know when your little girl will tell you that her favorite color is black....
ReplyDeleteTrue. I painted R's room pink for the same reason. And of course she has her pink girly toys. But I'm glad that for the "unisex" toys- FP bus, Leap Frog table, etc.- they were in primary colors so her little brother can still play with them now. (Not that there's anything wrong with a boy playing with pink toys. Just 'sayin). ;-)
