When I had my first baby there were about 2 swaddle blankets on the market- ugly yellow polyester and ugly green polyester. Times sure have changed. Swaddle blankets are de rigeur for new babies now since they decrease the risk of SIDS and also, of course, because they help baby (and mom) get longer stretches of sleep. The new Solana Swaddle Wraps are a collection of beautiful swaddle blankets designed by a pediatrician mom. They're made of breathable sheer and stretch cottons, and have pretty organic trims printed with earth friendly dyes. I like that they are available in girl, boy, or gender neutral designs- making them an affordable baby shower gift (they start at just $19.95). Visit Solana Swaddle Wraps.

I tried one of these, and it did not work for me for swaddling because it was so thin and wouldn't stay wrapped. It is great for the kids' pretend play now that they're older though.
The swaddling blanket I did use and LOVE because it helped my baby sleep a million times longer and better is the Miracle Blanket. It is truly a miracle swaddle blanket.
