Bathtime at the Zoo

I love animal themes for kids' bathrooms (particularly if you need a unisex design) like this Wild Animals Bath Ensemble from Wrapables.com. Designed by artist Kate Mawdsley, these resin pieces include soap dish, tumbler, toothbrush holder, lotion pump, tissue cover, and wastebasket, and feature winning zoo characters. Wrapables.com also carries the coordinating Wild Animals shower curtain, hooks, bath rug and towels. Prices start at $11.95 at Wrapables.com.

Forward this Chainmail

This is way out of my price range, but I love the chunky look of this Beez-to-Butterflies Chainmail Bracelet by Jennifer Casady, a mom of two & jewelry designer. Made of sterling silver, the bracelet is about half an inch wide and 7.5" long. $235 at Jennifer Casady.

These Kata Golda Brag Books make a sweet gift for a new mom (or grandma) and are just the kind of treat someone might not buy for herself. Each fabric-covered book features a hand-stitched animal on the cover, and 18 clear pocket pages inside (so 36 photos total). Completely one-of-a-kind, they measure 5.5" x 6" and cost $63 at Kate's Paperie.

Lego My Music

Form and function combine perfectly with this terfific Lego-inspired Block Dock from Room Service Home. Just snap your MP3 player into this replica Lego block and enjoy volume-controlled music. How to get (your child) to Sesame Street

My sister bought R. this personalized My Happy Day on Sesame Street book from Shutterfly and boy, was R. wowed (I was, too). You upload a photo of your child and it will appear- along with favorite Sesame Street characters- throughout the book's fully-illustrated 35 color pages. You also provide basic information (name, birthday, hometown, etc.) that is woven throughout the story, as well as an optional front page dedication. R. gets a real kick out of seeing herself in various garbs (dressed like an astronaut, or posing with a bunch of broccoli atop her head) and, I must say, it makes me laugh out loud too. And the story itself ain't half bad. This makes a great birthday gift for the preschool set. $39.99 at Shutterfly.com.

Timeless Wooden Toys

Last April I posted about the marvelous handmade wooden toys made by Wyit Wright, an 87-year-old retired Merchant Marine, at his Etsy storefront Stump Pond Toys. And I just received my first purchase from Wyit, the cherry and walnut Changeable Charlie ($18.95) shown in the top photo. "Changeable Charlie" literally has not left R's hands since it arrived a few days ago. She is smitten with this clever, bendable figure (and is also amused that he shares the same name as her Grandpa Charlie). I think that Baby S. will enjoy it too when he's a bit older. The other Stump Pond toys shown above are the Hopping Rabbit Pull Toy ($22.60) and Climbing Bear ($11.50) Visit Stump Pond Toys for more great, all-wooden toys.

Just Say No

In case you've ever wondered about the "BridesmaidAid.com LLC" copyright on this site, here's the scoop. Back in 2000, my then co-worker Ellen Horowitz and I came up with the idea for BridesmaidAid.com, a fun (and funny) site about being a bridesmaid (we were both serving that role for what seemed like the umpteenth time). The site really took off and we even had 15 minutes (OK, make that 15 seconds) of fame on The Today Show. Fast forward 7 years, 2 marriages (1 for each of us), and 4 kids (2 for each) later. Ellen and I don't update BridesmaidAid.com that regularly, but BridesmaidAid.com LLC provides me a business structure for MyMomShops. And we still get the occasional media inquiry for BridesmaidAid.com. This is how I ended up recently quoted in The New York Daily News. They asked me how (if?) you can ever turn down being a bridesmaid. Read my answer here. As for that new movie 27 Dresses, I am invited to a fundraiser tonight where they will screen it. Have you seen it? Is it good?

Say it Again, Sam

I've always had fun buying kids' graphic tees from Old Navy- the price can't be beat and the quality is pretty decent, too. Here are 2 cute ones I'm considering for R & S:

"It's Not Easy Being Pretty" (sizes 6-12mos through 5T, $9.50):

Little Man of the House (sizes 6-12mos through 5T, $10.50).

That Seventies Baby

When I saw this vintage baby gift wrap at Etsy.com, I knew I had to have it. The sweet design (which is actually from the 1940s) reminded me so much of the inside cover pages of my own 1970s baby book, plus the baby cards my mom thoughtfully saved when I was born in 1972. The wrap is in perfect condition- not at all faded or frayed- and has just a hint of metallic. I bought a 10 foot long roll for just $4 and plan to use it for wrapping baby gifts, in addition to making some Martha Stewart Kids-esque projects if I am feeling crafty. Buy some for yourself at JK Duncan's Etsy shop.

As Seen on TV

Do any of you watch that TLC show "Jon & Kate plus 8"? I am becoming sort of addicted to it. Anyway, on a recent episode I noticed Kate putting the kids' dinners on these colorful personalized melamine plates (with twins and sextuplets under one roof, heaven knows this is a good idea). I searched for these online and found them at My Retro Baby. They are dishwasher safe, measure 10" diameter, and are available in 10 colors (10 kids, anyone?) Buy them for $24 apiece at My Retro Baby.

MyMomShops Giveaway: Kaloo Organic Plush Bear

This contest is now closed. Congratulations to "Jane and Jim" who wrote, "I love the fact that it's organic and sooooo cute!" Jane and Jim, please e-mail me your name and address to claim your prize.
Our friends at Petit Baby are offering one reader a brand-new product by French toy designer Kaloo. It's an Organic Large Plush Bear and it is totally adorable. It is part of "Naturel", Kaloo's new, all-organic collection. The bear is made entirely from 100% organic cotton (that means no pesticides, harmful chemicals nor GMO are present in the cotton fibers). It arrives packaged in a beautiful round gift box made with 100% recycled paper. It is machine washable and safe for newborns so this also makes a great baby shower gift or new baby gift. The bear costs $59.99 at Petit Baby. (By the way, note that the plush rabbit in the photo is sold separately).

Sensational Shirtdress

Quick! If you want to snag a cool party dress for a toddler girl, check out this Striped Lucy Dress with Tie by Jen Jen. In a fantastic color combo of fuschia, orange, and chocolate, this jazzed-up shirtdress would be perfect for a 1st birthday party! (The only size left is 2T but it runs small). Love the orange grossgrain ribbon at the waist. It's 100% cotton and machine washable. Reduced to $32 (from $54) at The Red Balloon.

Keep On Truckin'

I'm so sad that this Baby Boy Trucks Tee by celeb-adored brand C & C California doesn't come in a size big enough for Baby S. (it is available up to 18-24 months, but my big and tall 17-month-old would barely squeeze into that). I love the fun pattern (kind of reminds me of Marimekko) and of course the blue and brown colors. It's been reduced to $23.80 from $34 at C & C California.

Follow the (Sort of) Brick Road

Check out these cool photo-realistic brick floor mats I spotted at Uncommon Goods. They're an affordable, modern-day equivalent of trompe l'oeil for your own castle (see, a Harvard art history degree does pay off!) Lots of rustic outdoor charm, but wayyy easier to clean (they are made of foot-friendly, machine-washable foam) than real brick. Such a clever, fun idea. There's a doormat or a 4' x 6' area rug (unique idea for a playroom, perhaps?). They're on sale, too. The 2' x 3' doormat was $40, now $29.95; 4' x 6' area rug was $140, now $99.95 at Uncommon Goods.

MyMomShops Giveaway: Little Daisies

This contest is now closed. Congratulations to Jamie, who wrote, "Love them!" Jamie, please e-mail me with your name, address, and clothing selection (design, personalization, and size) to claim your prize! Little Daisies is a sweet personalized baby clothing site I learned about last spring. They make 100% cootton garments with lovely hand-embroidered designs plus personalization. I personally like the daisy design for girls and the lion design for boys. There are lots of different clothing styles to choose from, including onesies, footed sleepers, tees, pant/shirt sets, bloomers, and hats. The back of the onesies and tees have an extra embroidered design, too, which is a nice touch. Some styles are available in sizes up to 3T so these make great birthday gifts or big sibling gifts in addition to new baby gifts. Visit Little Daisies.

MyMomShops readers will enjoy free shipping and gift wrap with the code "Daisy08."

Intern: A Doctor's Initiation

Allow me to tell you about a great new nonfiction book, Intern: A Doctor's Initiation, written by Dr. Sandeep Jauhar. Sandeep is the brother-in-law of one of my dearest friends N. (who just had a baby boy- congratulations!) and I also adore his wife and young son (who is a playmate of my daughter's). Besides being the Director of the Heart Failure Program at Long Island Jewish Medical Center, Sandeep is also an accomplished writer (he writes for The New York Times), and now has published this memoir of his grueling years as a young resident at New York Hospital. Click hereto read the wonderful reviews at Amazon.com of Intern: A Doctor's Initiation. If you are interested in medicine (especially if you, or anyone you know, has undergone the intensive training to become a doctor) I suggest you pick up a copy of Sandeep's highly readable, entertaining yet poignant book. Go Edwards!

I'm watching the Democratic debate in South Carolina right now and I am loving my candidate John Edwards. He is finally saying whatever he wants (he has nothing to lose, I guess). But I think I probably waited too long to buy this Edwards, Baby! tee ($21) from Baby Wit for Baby S. If the pundits are correct, it will probably go on sale soon. Check out all the political baby clothes at Baby Wit.

Cable Service

These beautiful chunky Cable Sweaters at Vivre are currently on sale (a LOT!) for $60 (reduced from $150). This classic, handknit 100% merino wool sweater has a 3-button mock turtleneck. Colors include grey, green or ginger, in sizes 2 years through 10 years. Buy ahead for next winter at Vivre.com.

Toddler Gone Retro

Check out these awesome 1970s vintage girls shoes from Etsy.com. Sized for toddler girls (made in Spain, but approximately size 5 U.S.), they are made of leather with comfort soles inside, and seem to be in very good shape. Snatch them up for $29.95 at the Etsy.com storefront of Koosi.

Hip & Little Monogram

You know I always love a great monogrammed kids' shirt like this Stripe Monogram T-shirt for boys from Hip & Little. The raglan tee is handmade to order, available in sizes 2T and up, and costs $38 at Hip & Little.

Lovely Whitney English

I first discovered stationery designer Whitney English at the National Stationery Show last year, and now I see their bright, pretty notecards popping up everywhere. They were also kind enough to send me a new box of personalized stationery (the absolute best way to my heart) which I LOVE. If only I had neat handwriting to match! The designs are very cool, using traditional formats but with funky, vibrant designs (think Boatman Geller but a little edgier). Check out all their notecards here or click here for online retailers. I hope to see them again at the Stationery Show in May and will report back then on their new designs!

Blogiversary Giveaway #10: Egg Press

Regular readers of this blog know my fondness (OK, obsession) for letterpress stationery (the oldest printing technique in which a raised surface is inked and pressed against a smooth surface to obtain the image in reverse). Letterpress cards are wonderful to admire, touch, and, of course, to send to friends when you want something more old-fashioned than an e-mail.

Egg Press, located in Portland, Oregon, is one of my favorite letterpress stationers, and for our 10th and final giveaway of Blogiversary Giveaway Week they have offered FIVE of our readers an assortment of their letterpress and offpress cards (valued at about $20 per assortment). Take a look at some of their beautiful designs here, and, if you win, look forward to receiving a surprise selection of these scrumptious cards.

Win it! FIVE readers will win an assortment of cards from Egg Press. Here are the contest rules:

1) To enter, make a comment, any comment on THIS post (click on "comments" below).
2) Post your comment by 11:59pm, Thursday, January 17th. One entry per person, please. US addresses only.
3) Five winners will be chosen at random and announced on Friday morning, January 18th along with the other giveaway winners.
4) NOTE: You must check back on Friday to see if you won, and to e-mail me your name and address to claim your prize. Unclaimed prizes are forfeited after 72 hours.

Good luck!

Blogiversary Giveaway #9: Lucky for Baby

Wow, crib bedding has come a long way, hasn't it? When I was pregnant with R. in 2003, there were very few stylish, modern options from which to choose. Some stores even still had (gasp) Winnie the Pooh bedding. Today, there are so many wonderful choices, and some of them have even gone organic. Like our next giveaway- this Daisy Crib Set at boutique Lucky for Baby. The 3-piece set includes a 100% cotton quilt, bumper, and cotton flannel fitted sheet. The bumper ties together to make a little floor mattress, giving it a new life after you remove it from the crib. And the quilt can also be used as a floor playmat. Everything is hand screen-printed here in the U.S. and is machine washable. The set retails for $320 at Lucky for Baby, a great site for organic and high-quality baby gear.

Win it! One reader will win a $320 Daisy Crib Set from Lucky for Baby. Here are the contest rules:

1) To enter, make a comment, any comment on THIS post (click on "comments" below).
2) Post your comment by 11:59pm, Thursday, January 17th. One entry per person, please. US addresses only.
3) One winner will be chosen at random and announced on Friday morning, January 18th along with the other giveaway winners.
4) NOTE: You must check back on Friday to see if you won, and to e-mail me your name and address to claim your prize. Unclaimed prizes are forfeited after 72 hours.

When R. was a toddler and I was desperately trying to find new toys that held her interest, I stumbled onto this site Baby Scholars. I am very glad I did. Alphabet Flash Cards by eeBoo. R. has been enjoying these since age 2! ($11.95)

Gearation by Tomy. Baby S's physical therapist uses this with him and both kids love it. ($29.95)

Blogiversary Giveaway #7: Three Lovelies

I was recently introduced to a charming e-boutique called Three Lovelies. Its founder Whitney Chianese has worked at In Style, Parenting, and BabyTalk magazines, and she has a great eye for stylish products that moms can use whether or not they are in "mommy mode." It's refreshing to see a site that acknowledges you as more than just someone with a child attached to her hip, right? Three Lovelies divides its wares into three sections: moms, women, and celebrate. Here are some items that caught my eye across all 3 categories:

Creative Concepts by Jill Personalized Birth Canvas ($56)

Chamak Crystal Bangles Amethyst ($75)

Oobi Baby Bubba Knit Overalls ($55)

Oromono Nursery Pillow: dog ($55)

Nice things, aren't there? Browse around at Three Lovelies. By the way, some of the above items have just gone on sale, so be sure to click on the links for new, reduced prices!

Blogiversary Giveaway #6: Little Showoffs

It is especially fitting that one of our blogiversary giveaways is from Little Showoffs, since this great company provided our very first giveaway almost 1 year ago. Their "Warning I'm 2..." T-shirt is still one of my favorite 2nd birthday gifts to give to friends.

During my 2nd pregnancy, when I found out I was having a boy, I excitedly ordered Little Showoffs' "Big Sister" and "Little Brother" T-shirts. Sure enough, when Baby S. arrived, these shirts provided a perfect photo-op for him and R. I even used the photo for our thank you notes. Check out the Little Showoffs photo gallery to see if you can spot my munchkins...

Little Showoffs is generously offering one MyMomShops reader a set of the following: 1 men's tee, 1 women's tee, and a combo of 2 newborn, baby, or kids' tees. Here are just some of the fab slogans you could choose from:

Warning I'm 2 Shirt (starts at $17). R. had the long-sleeved version in pink and we got sooo many chuckles and compliments.

Due In...(Month) Long-Sleeve Tee ($36). I loved wearing my "Due in August" shirt when pregnant with Baby S. Too bad no one saw it after 7 months when I went on bedrest!

"Into Everything" Tee (starts at $17). So true for my 1 1/2 year old...

Brand New Shirt ($15). Great for that first batch of picture-taking!

Win it! One reader will win a set of clothing from Little Showoffs: 1 men's tee, women's tee, and 2 baby/toddler/kids' tees (all your choice of color and slogan) from Little Showoffs.

1) To enter, visit Little Showoffs, browse around, and comment about which shirts you'd like. Leave your comment on THIS post (click on "comments" below).
2) Post your comment by 11:59pm, Thursday, January 17th. One entry per person, please. US addresses only.
3) One winner will be chosen at random and announced on Friday morning, January 18th.
4) NOTE: You must check back on Friday to see if you won, and to e-mail me your name and address to claim your prize. Unclaimed prizes are forfeited after 72 hours.

Blogiversary Giveaway #5: Warm Biscuit Bedding Company

I first learned about Warm Biscuit Bedding Company through their mail-order catalog a few years ago. I adore their vintage-y feel bedding, decor, fabric, and accessories (in fact, I am thinking of their Paper Doll Theme bedding & decor if/when I ever re-decorate R's "big girl" room). Take a look at all the fabulous, retro-style options for nurseries & big kids' rooms here.

Browsing their site recently, I also discovered that Warm Biscuit also offers the most superb selection of classic toys, personalized clothing, and charming accessories for little ones, too. I was really impressed with the selection; these are some of my faves:

Fisher Price Music Box Television. Oh boy, does this take me back to my childhood. My sister and I had this exact model and used to "watch" it over and over again. No Noggin for us! ($28)

Girls' Personalized Bathing Suit. The boys' version is unfortunately sold out; too bad, I love that 1920s look! ($55)

Monogrammed Oilcloth Lunch Sacks. So precious and eco-friendly, too! ($18)

Personalized Kids' Storage Bins. Perfect for co-ordinating with Warm Biscuit's bedding themes. ($54)

Win it! One reader will win a $100 shopping spree at Warm Biscuit Bedding Company. Here are the contest rules:

1) To enter, visit Warm Biscuit Bedding Company, browse around, and comment about what you'd like to buy. Leave your comment on THIS post (click on "comments" below).

The one-of-a-kind screen-printed designs (which happen to be unisex and great for hand-me-downs!) are pure fun- including kids' favorite colors and foods. Blogiversary Giveaway #2: See Kai Run

It's overwhelming choosing just the right shoes for your new walker (or pre-walker), right? How about a pair from stylish See Kai Run? A family-run business founded by Seattle parents (to baby Kai), See Kai Run makes buttery soft-soled leather shoes designed especially for pre and new walkers. The styling is urban and sophisticated with fantastic colors and designs. Personally, I like that they have great offerings for boys, too (I have found it so much harder to find cool shoes for Baby S. than for my daughter).

See Kai Run has offered us 3 pairs of shoes- 1 pair each for 3 winners! Take a look at some of the shoes available (click here to see all of them at once). They retail for about $37.95 each and are available in sizes 3 through 9. The styles shown here, top to bottom, are "London," "Neo," "Henry," and "Stella." Those are my favorites, but the winner can choose whichever style they like (pending size availability).

Win it! Three readers will each one one pair of shoes (design and size of choice) from See Kai Run. Here are the contest rules:

1) To enter, visit See Kai Run , browse around, and comment about which design you'd like. Leave your comment on THIS post (click on "comments" below).
2) Post your comment by 11:59pm, Thursday, January 17th. One entry per person, please. US addresses only.
3) Three winners will be chosen at random and announced on Friday morning, January 18th.

MyMomShops Sponsor: My Princess Closet

My daughter is one of the few four-year-olds who is not obsessed with all things princess, but I know that most young ladies this age (and their moms) would delight in our newest sponsor, My Princess Closet. As you can imagine from its name, My Princess Closet features lots of girly-girl stuff ranging from clothing to dress-up accessories to princess-themed birthday gifts. Fear not, there's nothing tacky to be found here. In fact, My Princess Closet features some very stylish brands, including Room Seven and Tea Collection. So if your little princess also happens to be a fashionista, she's in luck.

Even sweeter, My Princess Closet knows that every good princess helps others, too. So they offer a special "Gifts that Give Back" section (including the awesome hat pictured below) where proceeds from sales go to help specific children's charities including Yale New Haven Children's Hospital Child Life Program. The perfect crowning touch.

Here are some of my fave picks from My Princess Closet (by the way, you can enjoy a 10% discount shopping there with coupon code "MYMOMSHOPS10"):

Personalized Fancy Pants by Princess Linens (starts at $20):

Dorna Dress in Pink by Room Seven (on sale, reduced to $67.20 from $96):

Firecracker Hat by Zooni ($30):

Princess Shoes by Jack & Lily ($26):

A Weight Has Been Lifted

For reasons I can't go into here, I have recently lost nearly 15 pounds and dropped 2 dress sizes without trying (don't worry, I'm fine and healthy). Happily, I am almost back to my (first) pre-pregnancy weight from 2002. I celebrated today by using a discount card I had at Ann Taylor Loft (yes, I love shopping for my kids, but when it comes to my own clothes, I'm a pretty frugal gal). Anyway, I scooped up these new boot leg red jeans ($54) and also this brushed trench coat in khaki ($129 on the website, but I got on final sale in the store for $49!). Best of all, I put all my old, bigger clothing into shopping bags to give away (R. said last week, "Mama, your pants are falling off!") Oh, happy day. Some of you, especially, know why...thanks millions for everything.

Beach Boys

If you're lucky enough to be vacationing somewhere warm this winter, consider this camo swim set from Babystyle for your little surfer dude. Both nylon/lycra top and bottom pieces have SPF 40 rating and are machine washable. Love this bright shade of green for the camo print. $34 in 0-6mos through 18-24mos at Babystyle.com.

Not Your Mama's Mumu

Check out this lovely Mommy Night Dress I just spotted at Modern Tots. It's 100% cotton, light, and comfortable...and so much more stylish than sweats! Also works as beach cover-up. Available in small, medium, or large for $75 at Modern Tots. Go ahead, indulge yourself.

This contest is now closed. Congratulations to these 5 winners:

Mel, who wrote, "Great idea! I would love it for all of those short naps in the car!"

Bailygp, who wrote, "I so want one of these for my munchkin."

Jenna, who wrote, "Excellent baby shower gift!"

Cul-ture queen, who wrote, "That is a wonderful accesory. Maybe my little one can startback with her regular routine of naps with this hat.I would love one."

Winners, please e-mail me with your name, address, size and color choice of hat to claim your prize.

I posted about this very clever, mom-invented Downtime Sleepy Hat last November, and now we have 5 of them to give away! It's a patented and super-cute (how about those sweet eyelids?) fold-down sleep mask that helps your little one fall asleep just about anywhere by creating a dark, soothing, nap-friendly environment. The hat arrives packaged in a nice little gift bag, too. They are available in natural, blue, or magenta, in size small (3-9mos) or medium (9-18mos). They retail for $22 but MyMomShops readers receive a generous 25% discount with code "MyMom2008". Visit Downtime Baby.

Take Charge

Love this Take Charge Charger Case from Spoon Sisters. Boy do I need this (my chargers always end up tangled in some Ziploc thrown into my overnight bag). This gift keeps all of your electrical "accoutrements" neatly organized. Measures 10 1/2" L x 3" H x 4" W and costs $12.50 at Spoon Sisters.

Cars & Cashmere

I love this Dwell Studio Cars Cashmere & Silk Blanket available at Giggle. The ultimate in sophistication for a new baby boy, the blanket from Dwell Studio's new "Icon" series takes a classic and simple design and turns it contemporary and luxe. At $120, definitely a gift for the baby who has everything. Believe it or not, it's machine washable. Feast your eyes at Giggle.

Urban Baba

I recently stumbled onto this cool kids' clothing designer, Urban Baba. Designer (and former pastry chef) Kristen Bell makes luxurious threads with a homemade sensibility ("Baba" means Grandma in Russian, and the clothes are meant to look like something a loving grandma might make for a little one). All clothes are made here in the U.S. Click here for where to buy (online retailers include boutiques such as Forest & Zoe and Jack & Grace).

Gwyneth Would Love This

Isn't this Apples Frame Purse at Etsy beyond cute? It's handmade (of course) of cotton and fleece here in New York, measures 10.5" x 9" x 4", and costs $65 at the Etsy storefront of Oktak handmade bags and baby goods.

Pat the Politician

If you're a political news junkie like I am (I loooove watching election coverage the days after the kids are asleep...) you will appreciate this (very) tongue-in-cheek Pat the Politician 2 book at WishingFish.com. More for moms than tots, this book helps you really "get in touch" with the '08 candidates (both parties included). Pull Hillary's purse strings, fluff John Edwards's hair, and don't forget to wave bye-bye to George W.! $10 at Wishing Fish (currently sold out but new shipment expected soon).

Bye Bye Talbots Kids

I just read in today's paper that Talbots is going to close all of its Talbots Kids stores nationwide by this September. Read about it here on Yahoo News. Really too bad. There is a Talbots Kids just a block away from where I live in Manhattan and I have been there so many times in the past 4 years to buy things for R. and Baby S. I loved that their baby clothing was cut big (my 99th percentile babies were able to wear their size 24mos until almost nearly that age). I always stock up there on barrettes and undershirts for R., and turtlenecks and pants for Baby S. And now that R. is in the 4-6X size range, I could always count on Talbots for age-appropriate (not trashy) girls' clothing. Their stuff is somewhat pricey (maybe that's why the stores were not heavily trafficked and are closing) but I always found great deals during their sales. Oh, so sad. I hope something good opens in its place. In the meantime, stock up on staples while you can at Talbots Kids.

Pretty Patterns at Pottery Barn

I was pleasantly surprised to see very bright, colorful patterns in the newest Pottery Barn Catalog (especially since recently I've found their "grown-up" bedding and accessories kinda boring). This "Nora" pattern looks really cool, I think. Very fun and fresh for Spring. Take a look:

Nora Duvet and Sham (sham starts at $25, duvet starts at $79)

Nora Tote Bag ($49)

Nora PJs ($69)

Check out more new patterns at Pottery Barn.

Heavyweight Resolutions

I like the sentiment of this It's Never Too Late To Start Your Life Over paperweight from Spoon Sisters. The quote starts on front, continues on side, and finishes on the back. Perfect gift for someone who's going through some changes (or for yourself, if you need to stick to some major resolutions for '08). Arrives in a gift box. $37.50 at Spoon Sisters.

Baby's Bathtime Basket

I saw these attractive baby gift "cases" by American Terry Co. at the ENK Children's Show last summer. Nicely packaged, cute, and practical, each retro fiberboard suitcase (kiwi green with brown handle & stitching) contains a hooded baby towel plus various add-ons including bib, washcoth, duckie & bubbles. Handmade gift tag with ribon tie is also included. Shown here in pink but also available in blue or unisex designs. Base price is $40. This makes a great shower or new baby gift. Visit American Terry Co..

The Early Bird Eats

These hip Jane Jenni Personalities Melamine Plates will be a hit with adults & kids alike (my favorite is "Early Bird"- appropriate for my household where Baby S. and I are up by 5am...) I think R. would like "Funky Monkey." Each 9.5" plate costs $7.95 at Bibelot, one of my favorite houseware sites. Stock up on a few for child-friendly entertaining.
